PayPal 'audit' fraud; Sax snatched; 'Molly' bust

Dec. 20

Tools were stolen from a storage container at a construction site on Creekside Lane in Loomis. Value of the missing property is estimated at $6,440.

A gas-delivery business employee made contact with a woman acting suspiciously at the scene of what turned out to be a burglary in the 3000-block of Delmar Avenue in Loomis. The woman — 5-feet-7-inches and blonde — drove away in a white Chevrolet Avalanche.

Dec. 19

A burglary was reported in the 21500-block of Dawn Ridge Drive North in Colfax. Entry was forced and $2,000 in property was taken from the master bedroom.

A 50-year-old North Auburn woman said she was contacted by phone for what she thought was PayPal regarding an “audit” that showed she owed them money. But it was a fraudster at work and she reported the crime after buying $500 in gift cards and turning over the codes to the bogus PayPal representative.

A window was smashed to enter a locked vehicle parked in the 1400-block of Canal Street in North Auburn. A backpack was stolen from inside, a 22-year-old Grass Valley man reported.

Benjamin Michael White, 35, of Pilot Hill was arrested on suspicion of evading a deputy and resisting peace-officer orders. The arrest followed a report of a suicidal man. The pursuit from LIncoln Way in Bowman traveled 10 miles along Foresthill Road of a vehicle, with the driver waving pursuers away. A spike strip eventually halted the vehicle but the man barricaded himself inside the Toyota Prius for about two hours.

A wood splitter and chainsaw with a total value of $2,850 were reported stolen from a 33100-block Ridge Road property in Dutch Flat.  

A saxophone and power tools, with a total value of $3,000, were stolen from an open garage in the 900 block of Sierra View Circle outside Auburn.

Ramon Jesus Jiminez, 35, of Sacramento, was cited on suspicion of possession of meth and heroin. The citation was issued at Flood Road and LIncoln Way in Bowman.    

Dec. 18

David M. Cullivan, 31, of Rancho Murieta was cited on suspicion of possession of heroin, and Morgan Rae Shotwell, a 32-year-old Sacramento transient, was cited on suspicion of possessing meth in a 1:21 a.m. traffic stop on Douglas Boulevard and Lakewood Drive in Granite Bay.

A 76-year-old Auburn man reported that several unauthorized charges were made on his debit card after using it either Nov. 23 or 24 at the Auburn Gas And Shop, 13380 Lincoln Way in Bowman.

Dec. 17

Catalytic converters with a value of $4,000 were stolen from vehicles parked in the 3600-block of Rocklin’s Cincinnati Avenue.

Danielle Melissa Conner, 28, of Roseville was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and giving a false name to a deputy.

Dominic Michael Njoes, 46, of Auburn, was arrested in the 300-block of Stoddard Way in the unincorporated area of Placer County near Auburn on suspicion of possession of meth.

Dec. 16

Denni Dale Feiro, a 36-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated in public. The arrest took place in the 1800-block of Highway 49.

Dec. 15

A 2011 Kia car was stolen while parked in the 3000 block of Taylor Road in Loomis. The car was later located in a ditch.

Dec. 14

A home in the 6200-block of Calle Montalvo Circle in Granite Bay was broken into and property stolen. No value estimate was given in the Sheriff’s Office report.

Micah Gabriel Desaton, 21, of Roseville was cited on suspicion of meth possession. The citation was issued at Viking Place and PFE Road outside Roseville.

A 59-year-old Granite Bay man’s social security number was used without his authorization to

run up a $1,225 bill on the victim’s Macy’s account.

Dec. 13

A total of $303 was withdrawn from Red Hawk Casino by someone using unauthorized access card information obtained Nov. 21 at the Auburn Gas and Shop pumps in Bowman.

Dec. 12

A password, phone number and address were changed on a man’s home equity line of credit. The credit union notified the victim of fraudulent activity after checks were ordered on the line of credit and one check was cashed in Brooklyn, N.Y. for $169,000.


Dec. 23

James Edmond Guidi, 32, of Sacramento, was arrested at Foresthill Road and Baltimore Mine Road in Foresthill on suspicion of possession of an M-60 explosive, meth and a billy club.

Tools were taken in a shed break-in at the Heather Glen Community Services District property in the 18800-block of Applegate Road in Applegate.


Dec. 20

A porch theft was reported, with $500 worth of packages stolen at a 17200-block Winchester Club Drive residence in Meadow Vista. The male suspect left in a 1990s silver BMW.


Dec. 15

Justin Daniel Rosauer, a 37-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and defrauding Mel’s Diner, 1730 Grass Valley Highway in North Auburn, by walking out without paying a $13.90 tab, tip not included.

Jeffrey Ronald Anderson, a 61-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested on suspicion of trespassing. Deputies were called to the Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in North Auburn on a report of a man who had been discharged refusing to leave.


Dec. 14

Chase Kenneth Bansemer, 28, of Penryn, was arrested and turned over to the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest took place on Penryn’s Boyington Road.

Evan Sandon Coyle, a 30-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous restricted drug. The Sheriff’s Office said that 60 capsules of the drug MDMA, known as “molly” or “ecstasy” and 10 grams of white powder were found during a search.


Dec. 13

A 61-year-old Colfax woman reported fraudulent use of her Valero credit card after using it at the Valero gas station, 13400 Bowman Road in Bowman. A total of $226 in charges were made at a Miami, Fla. gas station.

Brandon George Kendall, 34, of Bowman was arrested in the 13100-block of Lincoln Way in Bowman on suspicion of public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.


Dec. 11

A 61-year-old Colfax woman told the Sheriff’s Office that she and two men she was walking with 2 miles upstream from the Bear River campground near Colfax were shot at, with one round striking a tree about a foot above her head. The shots were believed to have come from the Nevada County side of the Bear River.

Gates worth $5,000 were stolen from a 3100-block Rattlesnake Road property, south of Auburn.

A 36-year-old Colfax man said he used a debit card at Auburn Gas N Shop in Bowman and someone ran up $318 at Home Depot in San Jose using his card information soon afterward.

A 63-year-old Colfax man reported someone duplicated his credit card information and used it for purchases totalling $700 at Wells Fargo in Las Vegas, Nev. and Home Depot in Santa Clara.


Dec. 4

Storage units were broken into at Tri City Storage in Loomis.
