New-home sales outlook hopefulBy: Gus Thomson, Reporter/Columnist
Home builders are expressing hope as the new year turns in the Placer County region.
November new-home sales totals in the North State Building Industry Association’s six counties held their ground, according to the latest statistics covering 139 subdivisions.
The 319 sales in November were up from 304 in November 2017 and from 251 in October.
Total November sales are the highest in 10 years, with Placer County sales of 97 new homes again leading the region. Antelope reported 60 sales and Folsom placed a distant third with 49.
“Sales per week held steady from October to November, despite a slight drop in traffic,” association CEO Michael Struck said. “As we saw over the past few months, the market has somewhat leveled off but we anticipate an upswing early in the new year.”
A total of 9,629 people visited new-home communities in November looking for a potential purpose. That’s down from 10,782 in October. The region takes in an area from Yuba City in the north to Galt.
November sales were strongest in the $351,000 to $400,000 price range, with 92 houses sold.
