A local team from Senior Care Sacramento, which serves the Auburn area, raised $16,500 during the 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Sacramento. Oakwood Village in Auburn donated $1,500, a portion of the $10,000 donated by Platinum Senior Living. The Auburn team was organized by Therese Johnson, chief executive officer of Senior Care Sacramento. Johnson organized the team in honor of her mother and mother-in-law.

“If we don't address this Alzheimer's issue and make efforts and strides to eliminate this disease our homeless issue will only get worse,” Johnson said. “We will begin to see more and more homeless with dementia.”
