When Glenn Poole passed away last November at the age of 84, a void left in the Colfax High School family.
Over the years, Poole, a well-respected teacher and coach at both Colfax High and Oakmont High in Roseville, had a tremendous influential impact on many of his former students and athletes.
Now, a Celebration of Life for Colfax High’s first football coach has been planned.
According to Poole’s son, Terry, and daughter, Karen Moreno, a Celebration of Life for the former Falcon teacher and coach will be held on Saturday, April 23 at Bunz and Co. (311 Judah St.) in Roseville, starting at 2 p.m.
Terry Poole noted that the gathering will be informal with a microphone available for individuals who would like to speak. Coincidentally, the annual Glenn Poole Invitational track meet is slated to be held the same day at Oakmont High School.
Poole was Colfax High’s first football coach when the school opened in 1959. He coached football, along with basketball and track, at Colfax from 1960 to 1964. He then followed Colfax High Principal Ken Sahl to Oakmont in 1965 to become the first football coach at the new high school in Roseville. He coached football and taught there until retiring in 1974.
