Grocery Outlet teams up to raise funds for Auburn food closet’s new buildingBy: Staff report
Auburn Interfaith Food Closet (AIFC) is teaming up with Auburn’s Grocery Outlet for a community fundraising event. For the months of May and June, customers at Grocery Outlet will be able to add money to their bill at the cash register to support the Home 4 Us Capital Campaign, proceeds which go to AIFC’s new building fund.
“The Food closet makes a huge difference in our community,” said John Stevens, owner of the Auburn Grocery Outlet store. “This is an easy way for our wonderful customers to give to this worthy cause.”
“We’ve teamed up with John and his store on other projects, like their being the host store for the annual community turkey drive at Thanksgiving. Not only was John ready to implement this new project when we approached him, he also contributed $1,000 to help us towards our goal of raising $300,000 for the Home 4 Us Capital Campaign,” said Sandy Bassett, president of AIFC.
In addition, Grocery Outlet will host a free Customer Appreciation Barbecue on June, where customers can enjoy a nice lunch and will be encouraged to make a donation to AIFC.
