The girls have it! Eight valedictorians head off to college

Eight honor students from Colfax High School’s Class of 2016 share high points of their years at the school and talk about where they are going to college in the fall.

Best moments at Colfax High School:

“In the drama department. I was in six plays and it was all amazing.”

College and course of study:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; mathematics

 

  • Courtney Kirkland

Best moments at Colfax High School:

“Athletics. I was a three-sport athlete in basketball, volleyball and tennis. I’ve been lucky to spend the last four years with my best friends and I’m excited to go to college.”

College and course of study:

University of California at Berkeley; undecided

 

  • Jessica Fahrney

Best moments at Colfax High School:

“Being in leadership for four years. I liked the comradery of the class and getting to know a lot of people.”

College and course of study:

University of California at Santa Cruz; environmental studies

 

  • Kylee Bauer

Best moments at Colfax High School:

“Being in three sports: volleyball, basketball and track and field. I also loved being editor-in-chief of the “Evergreen” yearbook (for the Colfax High School’s Class of 2016). Just seeing all the reactions to it was really rewarding.”

College and course of study:

University of California at Los Angeles; civil engineering

“I loved getting to know my teachers as people more than just instructors through having several classes with them.”

“I loved the drama department. In (the play) “Argonautika,” I played Athena. It was an exciting show with lots of special effects.”

“Drama. For all four years (at Colfax High School), I did the choreography for a lot of the musical theater-style shows.”
