Motorcycle rider loses leg in crash

A motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries when he veered into opposing traffic, sideswiped a Jeep and was thrown off, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash took place Sunday evening on Magra Road, about 5 miles northeast of Colfax and east of River Ridge Road.

Suffering major injuries was motorcycle rider Troy Neidigh, 36, of Rocklin. According to the Highway Patrol report, his left leg was severed in the crash and he also suffered several cuts and scrapes. Neidigh was treated at the scene by emergency personnel before being transported by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Hospital.

Driver of the other vehicle - 48-year-old Jennifer Gainey of Gold Run - reported no physical injuries.

The Highway Patrol reported Tuesday that the crash was still under investigation.
