Bev Anderson, a Colfax resident was honored by the Neuropathy Action Foundation (NAF) with its You Are Our Hero Award at its 12th annual Neuropathy Action Awareness Day June 22 in Los Angeles.
NAF Founder/President Dominick V. Spatafora praised Anderson for her tenacity and
determination to support neuropathy sufferers.
“Bev embodies one of my favorite Margaret Meade quotes, ‘A small group of thoughtful people can change the world,’ indeed it’s the only thing that ever has,” Spatafora said. “Bev helps change the lives of neuropathy sufferers, one by one, every day of the year.”
“I have worked collaboratively with the Neuropathy Action Foundation for many years. It is a spectacular honor to be recognized by an organization that I greatly admire and respect, as well as with whom I share many values,” Anderson said.
Anderson, an octogenarian, is the founder and president of the Western Neuropathy
Association, a nonprofit. She has been an advocate for neuropathy sufferers since she launched the organization in 1998.
Anderson continues to work vigorously on a daily basis on behalf of the organization and neuropathy sufferers, including answering a toll-free phone line and emails from those in
need from around the globe. She makes herself available 24/7. Anderson is well-respected
by the many physicians that she utilizes as sources of information and counsel, as well as
by the WNA Board of Directors, support group leaders, and the many others that she
comes in contact with as an advocate for neuropathy sufferers.
