Placer boys and girls each win Sierra Invitational

Foresthill freshmen impress in Tracy

ROCKLIN– Both Placer boys and girls cross-country teams won their respective varsity 3-mile runs at the Sierra College Invitational Saturday morning.


Jesus Guerra-Reyes took the top overall spot for the boys run, finishing at 16 minutes, 17.38 seconds, and three of his Hillmen teammates finished inside the Top 10.


Jesus Carrasco (17:06.81), Connor Ryan (17:14.63) and Devin Muzzy (17:23.32) placed seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively for Placer, whose team score was 39, 11 points ahead of second-place Christian Brothers.


Brendan Moley and Nathan Reid also placed among the Top 20.


Placer’s girls beat out Folsom and Whitney in the top three spots, featuring senior Riley Lasher, who finished third overall at 21:36.34, junior Maddie Lasher (22:35.32) finishing eighth and Alison Wright (23:00.76) finishing 10th.


Abigail Jones and Cassandra Rhoades also finished under 24 minutes and within the Top 20 for the girls.


Colfax’s girls varsity runners finished sixth while the boys finished eighth as teams.


Senior Sierra Hagen finished ninth overall in the girls race at 22:53.06 while the top boys finisher was junior Billy Groth, who finished 26th at 18:20.97.


Kimball Jaguar Invite

A pair of Foresthill freshmen finished in the Top 5 at the Kimball Jaguar Cross-Country Invitational at Eagal Lake Resort in Tracy Thursday.

Wildfire runners Lily Watkins and Maykayla Stallman took second- and fourth place, respectively, in the freshman girls 2.1-mile run. Watkins finished in 15 minutes, 30.1 seconds while Stallman came in at 16:58.8.


For the Foresthill freshman boys, Luis Giles-Meraz placed 14th overall at 14:36.4 and Clay Cantrell was 45th at 16:31.6.


In the varsity 5,000-meter run, senior Megan Knudsvig (23:29.9) finished 20th overall while senior Meredith Carpenter’s 26:59.6 time was good for 54th overall. Kiera and Ellie Odell finished 69th- and 82nd, respectively, for the girls while junior Allen Siefert finished at 27:42.5 for the boys’ run.
