Chapter 526 of the EAA will hold a Young Eagles flight rally at the Auburn Municipal Airport Sept. 15. Volunteer pilots will be giving free airplane rides to children and young adults from ages 8 through 17. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the flights beginning shortly thereafter. Registration will end at 11:30 a.m. A parent or legal guardian will need to be present in order to fill out and sign the required paperwork. Grandparents don’t qualify unless they are also the legal guardians. Further information is available at www.eaachapter526.net/young_eagles.html.
This year Chapter 526 is participating in EAA’s Eagle Flights program for adults. This program matches volunteer pilots with adults from the community who are seriously interested in learning to fly, but have yet to begin the process. The program includes a free introductory flight by appointment, information on local flight schools, and continuing mentorship by the volunteer if the participant decides to begin taking flight instruction. There will also be an invitation to attend a Chapter meeting as a guest of the mentor pilot. Volunteers will be on hand at the Young Eagles flight rally to provide more information on the program and to sign up participants.
