Three former Colfax High golf standouts made their presence felt around the Northern California collegiate golf scene this spring. Patrick Bauer and Trevor Blair, a pair of 2007 CHS graduates, both were named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) all-conference team while Kevin Zachman, a 2009 CHS grad, earned first team honors in the California Pacific (Cal Pac) conference. Bauer, a senior at Sonoma State who has been a PING All-America choice the last two seasons, shot 72-73-73 to finish with a 218 total in last week’s CCAA championship tournament held at Hunter Ranch in Paso Robles. Blair, a junior at Cal State Stanislaus, finished with a 70-71-72 total for a 213 score. He helped the Warriors finish third in the tournament, one spot better than Bauer’s Sea Wolves. Both Blair and Bauer will be in action with their teams at the upcoming NCAA Div. II West/Central Regional Tournament, which is slated May 2-3 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The top teams and individuals at the regional tourney then advance to the Div. II national tournament set for May 16-20 at the Shoals Course in Florence, Alabama. Zachman, a sophomore at William Jessup University in Rocklin, averaged 76.8 this season and finished in 6th place at the Cal Pac season ending tournament. An all-conference second team pick last season, Zachman also finished 16th in the recent NAIA Western Regional tournament.
