Pacific Gas and Electric crew were working Thursday morning to restore power to Colfax area residents after a tree fell on a power line near the utility company’s Bonny Nook station in Alta. According to Brandy Ehlers, spokeswoman for the PG&E, about 3,600 customers from Colfax to Baxter were affected by the outage that she said lasted from 8:37 to 10:24 a.m. Lisa Staab, who lives near Alta Powerhouse Road in Alta, said a worker at a neighbor’s cabin had been trimming the 100-foot tree that toppled onto the power line. “We heard two very loud explosions that sounded like a house had blown up – that’s how loud it was,” Staab said. - Martha Garcia
