A Grass Valley man is in jail after allegedly using a firearm while robbing an Auburn gas station clerk.

Jeremiah William Navratil, 24, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of armed robbery and committing a felony while out on bail. Police believe that Navratil was the white male who entered Auburn Gas and Food, located on the 1100 block of High Street, at about 7 p.m. Feb. 7 and, while brandishing a firearm, stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk.

 At the time, the suspect wore a mask and other clothing to conceal his identity, according to Auburn police.

During the investigation, Auburn Detective Dave Neher identified a potential suspect, recovered the firearm used during the robbery and interviewed witnesses, according to Sgt. Dale Hutchins with the Auburn Police Department.

On Tuesday, law enforcement from Auburn Police and the Grass Valley Police Department served a search warrant at Navratil’s home on the 1400 block of Segsworth Way in Grass Valley. Police reportedly found items related to the robbery during the search and Navratil was taken into custody without incident.

He remained in custody in Placer County Jail Tuesday evening held on $50,000 bail.
