Cassandra Campbell and Michelle Walker combined offensive and rebounding prowess Monday night to help lift the Colfax Lady Falcons to a non-league basketball win. With Campbell and Walker each connecting for 12 points, the Lady Falcons built an 11 point halftime advantage and ended up cruising to a 62-40 win over host Casa Roble. Colfax, now 4-6 on the season, led 12-7 after one quarter of action and then extended it to 26-15 at halftime before putting the Rams away with a 36-25 second half point exchange. The Campbell-Walker duo also combined for 14 rebounds with Campbell grabbing eight and handing out four assists. Also having a hand in the win were April Littlejohn, who added 10 points and Audrey Lewis, who finished with nine points and six assists. Rounding out the scoring for the winners were Kacey Capuchino with six points, Lindsay Larson with five, Emily Colon with four and Erika Heikila and Cathy Hinrichs with two points each. In last weekend’s Del Oro Lady Eagle Tournament, the Colfax girls went 1-2 to finish in fourth place. Colfax opened the tournament with a 37-36 win over Rio Americano. A late free throw by Campbell proved to be the winning margin of victory for the Lady Falcons. Lewis topped Colfax’s scoring as she meshed 21 points. Meanwhile, Capuchino and Littlejohn added five points each and Walker led in rebounding with five. Colfax then played eventual tournament champion Del Oro and hung with the hosts for a half before falling, 63-46. Campbell and Lewis scored nine points each for the Lady Falcons. In a low-scoring third place game on Saturday, Colfax fell to Pleasant Valley of Chico, 31-21. Capuchino, Campbell and Lewis each scored five points for Colfax. Colfax will open play Monday in the 16-team Folsom tournament. The Lady Falcons will face Elk Grove at 10:30 a.m.
