Upcoming meetings focus on pot, budget, bridges

A series of upcoming meetings may be of interest to Colfax area residents. • Caltrans: An open house is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the historic Railroad Depot, 99 Railroad Ave. Caltrans officials will provide information on construction and traffic management plans on a proposal to increase the height of eight overcrossings and one railroad underpass on Interstate 80 in Placer County. The goal of the project is to bring clearance up to the current standard of 16 feet, 6 inches. Locally, the Weimar Cross Road and Magra Road overcrossings are being considered. • Economic Development Commission: The newly formed Economic Development Commission will hold a workshop starting at 5:30 p.m. tonight in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 33 So. Main Street. The commissioners will prioritize goals and objectives for the commission. • Colfax Elementary School Board: The Colfax Elementary School District’s board of trustees will hold a special meeting starting at 6 p.m. on Monday in the school library, 24825 Ben Taylor Road. The trustees will consider approval of the 2009/2010 second interim report and consider options for student transportation during the 2010/2011 school year. • Weimar/Applegate/Colfax Municipal Advisory Council: A proposed countywide zoning amendment impacting the operation of medical marijuana collectives in Placer County will be reviewed at the next Weimar/Applegate/Colfax Municipal Advisory Council meeting. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17 at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 22 Sunset Circle.
