– A week ago last Monday there was a spectacular seven-car, chain-reaction crash on Highway 40 four miles east of Baxter. Two of the cars went over the steep bank on the Canyon Creek side.
The nucleus of the crash began with a single accident when the car driven by Alex G. Gassiot rounded a curve on slippery pavement, went out of control, and shot downward over the bank.
Michael Farrone stopped to give aid, and five more cars, unable to stop on the slippery pavement, were crushed together against the Farrone car.
