Two Colfax residents are behind bars after the discovery of two illegal marijuana grows at two separate residences. Joel Jauregui, 27, and Yulian Huang, 25, both of Colfax, were taken into Placer County Sheriff's Office custody Thursday after more than 200 pot plants were seized in two raids. This past Monday, patrol deputies responded to a rental home on Pinecroft Road near the city of Colfax to investigate a report of a marijuana cultivation operation. According to Sgt. Andrew Scott, they discovered 124 marijuana plants in various stages of growth inside and outside the residence. Information at the house led deputies to a second house on rural, isolated Catskill Drive, about six miles west of Colfax, Scott said. A Placer County judge issued a search warrant on the Catskill Drive house and it was served by deputies and detectives from the Placer County Sheriff's Special Operations Unit. Scott said an elaborate indoor marijuana grow was located in the rental house and deputies seized an additional 83 mature marijuana plants. Jauregui and Huang were subsequently arrested Thursday on charges of illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Bail was set at $10,000.
