Samantha Scicluna, a senior at Colfax High School, has received a $100 prize from the Colfax Friends of the Library president on Oct. 1 at the Colfax Library. Scicluna had the winning entry in the FOL’s logo competition. The logo will appear on FOL promotional materials. Three other participants – Kelsey Vaughn, Keilani Spencer and Dylan Howell – each received $25, anonymously donated by one of the Friends’ members. All four also received a free membership in the Sierra Vista Art Center organization – a $30 value. The competition targeted high-school age students as part of the Friends’ 2011 outreach goals. Judges were Steve Coverston, a retired Colfax High art teacher, and Logan West, a Sierra College student and Sierra Vista Art Center board member. Robin Clark, Colfax High art teacher, provided guidance and enthusiastic support. Friends of the Library members Sue Carmichael, Charlene McShane, Pauline Nevins and Kristi Parnham coordinated the competition.
