Colfax gardeners complete landscape design course

Colfax Garden Club members were among the 23 students who on Oct. 25 completed 40 hours of Landscape Design study. Steve McNiel, ASLA, and Lynelle McNiel, ASLA, were the instructors for the school. The school, consisting of college courses, was sponsored by the Colfax Garden Club and established by the National Garden Clubs, of which California Garden Clubs and the Colfax Garden Club are members. The Colfax school, the 25th to be held in California, was the first to be completed within two months; all others have been over a period of two years. Students came from Placer, Sacramento, El Dorado, Santa Rosa and Calaveras counties, as well as from the Bay Area and Southern California. Those completing the school from the Colfax Club, and becoming Landscape Design Consultants, were Bili Winter, Linda and Gary McDonald, Jewell DeLapp, Carol Pengelly, Susan Popanz, Carolyn Flynn, Patti Williams, Ann Lohmann, Rebecca Arguijo, Kortney Phillips and Ingrid Edsel. - Staff report
