The Colfax girls basketball team didn’t play its best game Thursday, but the Lady Falcons still managed to beat Lincoln 35-27 and come away with a share of the Pioneer Valley League title.

Lindsey Biles had 10 points and Kaila Tremoureux and Kylie Kirkland added six for Colfax, which finishes the regular season 18-9, 8-2 in the PVL.

Colfax held a 16-10 lead over Lincoln at halftime.

“We were pretty lethargic,” coach Dave Campbell said. “The energy level wasn’t really there. Our shooting was really bad. We have those nights every once in a while.”

Also contributing to the Lady Falcons’ win were Taylor Avila (five points) and Raegan Lillie and Amber Tobiasz, who both added four apiece.

Colfax’s record is good enough for a playoff spot and most likely a top-four seeding in the Sac-Joaquin Section’s Div. IV playoffs.

But the playoffs won’t start until Feb. 19.

“I’m a little worried about that to be quite honest with you,” said Campbell, who is hoping for two more home games. “That’s a lot of gym time without no games. Maybe we’ll figure out some scrimmages or something. It’s pretty tough, but on the other end of the spectrum it gives us time to get rid of the flu bug and get healthy again. I’ve had at least one or two kids out every game for the last two weeks.”

Colfax will share the league title with both Placer and Bear River, which both were victorious Thursday as well.

“We’re happy with that,” Campbell said. “Anytime you can put a banner on the wall, you have to be happy. When you go 8-2 in the PVL, that’s a good season.”
