Colfax area movie fans may not have a Blockbuster or big-box video store, but there are good options to those movie outlets. Pick-A-Flick, located at 6 N. Main St., has a rental fee of $3.50 for all movies. “The one-day rentals are the newest arrivals; the two-day rentals are the new releases,” said Don Cunningham, co-owner. “We have a section called Categories, which are the older movies. We also have a good selection of documentaries, which are only $2 for three days.” Call 346-8808 for availability. Corner Market, next door at 2 N. Main St., phone 346-7029, has family movies for rent, according to owner TMJ Kaur. You’ll find favorites such as “Lord of the Rings” and the Harry Potter series on the store’s shelves. The fee is $2.79 for one-day rental. One of the best-kept secrets in town is the free video lending library available at the Colfax Library, as well as all Placer County branch libraries. The library system has everything from “feature films to TV series, documentaries, and educational, as well as children’s movies,” said Colfax Librarian Gunda Pramuk. “Once movies are available in video format, then we are able to purchase them. Any item can be put on hold and picked up at any branch that they choose,” Pramuk said. There’s no charge to borrow the videos, which can be kept for three weeks. Visit the Colfax Library at 2 W.
