Colfax High accepting Hall of Fame nominations

The Colfax High School Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the 2013 induction class. Deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honor exemplary alumni, faculty, coaches and community members who have made outstanding contributions to the school and/or society and to use their outstanding lives and careers as a positive example for current and future Colfax High School students. 

Nominees must have a record of demonstrated leadership, positive community involvement, and outstanding citizenship. There are three categories to which a person can be nominated and each has its own criteria.

A student/alumni/team must have graduated at least 10 years ago. A staff member/coach must have left the school at least five years. A community member/family nominee must have demonstrated exemplary contributions, significant impact, or dedicated service to Colfax High.

‘Retro Night’ for hoops Tuesday

Colfax High’s boys basketball program will “turn back the clock” next Tuesday with a Retro Night when the Falcons play host to Sutter in a non-league game. Game times for the tripleheader – which will be played in the school’s old gym – are 4 p.m. for the frosh game, 5:30 p.m. for the JVs and 7 p.m. for the varsity.

This year’s Retro Night theme is the 1990s, with students urged to dress up in ’90s attire. At halftime, there will be a ceremony honoring legendary Colfax High girls basketball coach Jim Ryan.

The game will be Colfax’s final home boys contest until the Falcons host Whitney on Jan. 4.
