Colfax JVs Topple Hillmen, 34-14

Colfax quarterback Logan Hurst and running back Sam Lahaie proved to be thorns in the side of the Placer JV football team Friday night. Hurst ran for touchdowns of 19 and nine yards and also threw scoring passes to Dalton Bannister and Marcus Jackson while LaHaie chipped in with another touchdown run to help the Falcons down the Hillmen, 34-14, in a Pioneer Valley League game in Colfax. Hurst finished the game by hitting on 14 of 21 passes for 228 yards while also running for 56 more yards on 11 carries. LaHaie, meanwhile, added 105 yards rushing on 14 carries. Colfax, which led 21-7 at halftime, broke the game open in the second half on Hurst's 26 yard scoring pass to Bannister and a 72-yard six-pointer to Jackson. Placer's touchdowns came on a 40-yard halfback pass from Dominique Perez to Frankie O'Neal in the second quarter and in the third quarter on a 49-yard pass from Clark Pietromonaco to O'Neal. Colfax, 7-2 overall on the season, plays at Lincoln next Friday while Placer, 3-6, hosts Center.
