I want to thank so many for coming together and staging a great community event, the best ever Railroad Days 2011. Special big thanks the Placer-Sierra Railroad Heritage Society for drawing in so many new groups, particularly the Portola Western Pacific Museum train, more model trains, the mini steam train ride and many railroad artists. Our Chamber of Commerce Railroad Days event chairpersons Frank Klein and Kathy Talso did a fabulous job pulling the event together and also added the evening Depot Street Dance and Vintage Car show to the event. The Vendor Fair allowed our local businesses and organizations a chance to share their information. The free rail motorcars and Operation Lifesaver simulator were so helpful teaching our children train safety. The People Mover trackless train pulled the event together. The Sierra Vista Community Center had more model trains and Kids' Zone, and dinner at SVCC. The Sierra Vista Art Center installed a great Art Show. The Main Street Quilt Show and Garden Club plant sale were a big draw. With the additions to the event, everyone felt this year’s Railroad Days was the best ever. A big thanks to all of you for making it happen! Connie Heilaman, Colfax Area Chamber of Commerce president
