Colfax memorial project to honor 9/11 victims

-A +A
The Kiwanis Club of Colfax is recruiting participants for the “Reading of the Names” Memorial Project, to be held Sunday, Sept. 11, in the parking area behind the freight depot, beginning at 8:46 a.m., the exact time that American Airlines flight 11, hijacked by terrorists, hit the North Tower in New York City. The Colfax event will include honor guards from local law enforcement, fire, military and other similar organizations to add dignity and solemnity to the event. Each participant will read several names for a period of time, followed by the ringing of the bell after a name is read. Each of the almost 3,000 people killed on Sept. 11 will be honored. Representatives from law enforcement, fire departments, area service clubs, Scout groups, public safety agencies, schools and churches interested in participating should contact Ken Delfino immediately to participate.
