COLFAX HIGH PANCAKE BREAKFAST SATURDAY If the baseball season is just around the corner, it must be time for the Colfax High baseball team’s annual pancake breakfast. The breakfast, which typically kicks off the baseball season in Colfax, is set for Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Colfax High cafeteria. The breakfast will run from 8 to 10 a.m. and for a $5 donation consist of eggs, sausage, pancakes, coffee and juice. The $5 ticket also goes into the hat for raffle prizes. Tickets available at the door or from a Colfax High baseball player. Call Mike McCabe at 575-8357. MATHE TAKES PVL 220 CLASS MAT CROWN Colfax High will be advancing two wrestlers to this weekend’s CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Div. III championship meet set for Friday and Saturday at Benicia High School. Colfax’s Ken Mathe outlasted Foothill’s Briar Litz in overtime to win the 220-pound weight class at last Friday’s Pioneer Valley League championship tournament at Foothill High. Mathe will be advancing to the Div. III tourney with teammate Alec Cobabe who placed fourth at 106 pounds. The top wrestlers at the Benicia meet will advance to the CIF section Master’s meet Feb. 23-24 in Stockton. CHS LITTLE LEAGUE CLINIC, ALUMNI GAME The Colfax High baseball Little League clinic will be held at Colfax High from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. If rained out, the event will move to the following Saturday, March 3. In other Colfax High baseball news, the school’s Alumni Game is slated for Saturday, April 7, starting at 11 a.m. A barbecue will follow the game for players and families. FREESTYLE WRESTLING SIGN-UPS SCHEDULED Sign-ups for the Colfax Freestyle Wrestling program will be taken at the start of team practice March 1. Practice Thursdays and Fridays in the small gym at Colfax High from 6-7:30 p.m. Sign-ups continue through the first two weeks of practice. Cost for the program is $85, which includes a USA Wrestling Card and insurance, team shirt, shorts, awards and team party.
