Thomas and Jill Schroeder to speak at AAUW International Dinner
-A +A

The Auburn branch of the American Association of University Women will host its annual International Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the First Congregational Church, 710 Auburn Ravine Road in Auburn.

Guest speakers Thomas and Jill Schroeder will speak about their yearlong Fulbright teacher exchange in 1998-99 where Thomas taught biology, English conversation and P.E at Tassilo High School in Bavaria. This led to an annual student exchange between Placer High School and Tassilo High School that started in 2000 and is still going on today.

The Schroeders will also talk about leading students on the exchanges in which 20 Tassilo students spend two weeks in Auburn with their partners and then in June, the 20 Placer students visited them for three weeks in Germany.

There is no cost for this event; donations are welcome. Contact Pat Kessler at pat.kessler@sbcglobal.net for information about the International Dinner.  To learn more about AAUW, visit auburnaauw.org or call (530) 559-6128.
