Create Valentines to be sent to veterans

-A +A
The Colfax VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 2003 is answering the call of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in asking children, adults, and organizations and groups in the community to join them in making Valentines to warm veterans’ hearts. The Valentines will go to veterans at the Reno VA Hospital, Mather VA Hospital, Auburn VA Clinic, and in packages being mailed to service members serving in Afghanistan. These men and women served in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam the Persian Gulf War, and current Iraq/Afghanistan wars. They represent every race, color, and creed. Be creative with the Valentines and help students and youngsters learn firsthand the satisfaction that comes from doing something for others. The project can be turned into a rainy day activity, a homework assignment, or a personal commitment. Valentines should be delivered by Thursday, Feb. 9, to the Colfax Area Chamber of Commerce office in the Passenger Depot or the Colfax Library. Contact Beth Murphy at 637-4893 for more information.
