Bored? Hot? Free and low-cost activities and classes are being offered this summer in Colfax.
Check out the library
Summer reading fun for all ages will be offered through Aug. 15 at branch libraries throughout Placer County.
Staff will offer a variety of activities centered on this year’s theme: “Make a Splash! Read!”
School-aged and teen readers are encouraged to set a summer reading goal. After readers have completed half their goal they can select a prize.
When the goal is completed, another prize is awarded.
Readers are encouraged to decorate their reading logs, to list their books read, and to talk about their books with library staff.
Pre-schoolers can also participate by listening to books and collecting stickers.
Free special programs will also be offered throughout the summer.
Activities planned at the Colfax Library include an instrumental petting zoo presentation by Pete Hansen on June 30, an appearance by juggler/storyteller Izzy Tooinsky on July 14, an African Drum and Dance Troupe on July 28 and an arts and crafts activity day on Aug. 11.
All programs are offered free courtesy of the Colfax Friends of the Library.
“If you have a young reader in your life, please encourage them to participate in this year’s Summer Reading Program,” said Mary George, assistant director of library services.” I am so proud of all the library staff for their efforts and can guarantee that there will be something fun for everyone. Please check us out soon.”
