Colfax's 26-8 Win Improves season mark to 7-1-1

LINCOLN - Tanner Kane rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Chancey Trentman returned a punt 56 yards for a pivotal second half score as the Colfax frosh football team handed Lincoln its first Pioneer Valley League loss of the season, 26-8 here Thursday evening. The win moves Colfax's season record to 7-1-1 and its PVL mark to 2-0-1. The Falcons can win the outright PVL crown next Thursday by defeating Bear River. Leading 14-8 early in the third quarter, Colfax stopped the Zebras' first possession of the second half and then used Trentman's key punt return to give themselves breathing room on the scoreboard. Kane carried the ball 20 times for 89 yards and his two scores while Michael Wilson,who carried the ball six time for 21 more yards, also scored a touchdown. Rushing Through the air, Wilson was 8 for 11 for 74 yards. Kane caught three passes for 30 yards, Jordan Balser had three grabs for 26 more and John Hayes had two receptions for 18 yards. On defense, Bailey Bean was in on six tackles and also helped break up three pass plays. Also playing well were Mario Margherita and Greg Painter with 4 tackles and 1 sack each. Tanner Meinster also did a great job with 5 tackles.
