Weather permitting, the Colfax Falcons' baseball team was slated to take a crack today at knocking off the last undefeated team in the Pioneer Valley League. Coach Mike McCabe's Falcons, 2-1 in PVL games, are set to travel to Lincoln this afternoon for a 4 p.m. game with the Zebras who are 3-0 in the early PVL race. Colfax, 5-4 overall, had its game with Bear River rained out on Tuesday after one inning of play. The game will be made up at a later date. In last week's action, the Falcons couldn't solve the slants of Center hurler Nathan Lukes as the visiting Cougars came to town and dealt Colfax a 7-0 setback. Lukes only fanned two batters in a route-going performance but he limited Colfax to just five hits. "We hit a lot of balls right at ’em," said Colfax assistant coach Tim Day. "Lukes threw well though. He threw strikes and kept the ball down." Junior left-hander Ryan Glazner took the loss for the Falcons as he allowed seven hits and four runs in five and a third innings. Despite the uneven start, Glazner fanned nine batters. Glazner, Roger Lillie, Devon Loomis, Dave Campbell and Michael Moore all hit safely for the Falcons in the loss. Earlier last week, the Falcons blasted Foothill, 11-1, as Campbell pitched four innings with six strikeouts to earn the mound win. Campbell aided his own cause by going 2x3 with three RBIs. Glazner, meanwhile, contributed a pair of doubles. Colfax are entered in next week's River City Easter Classic. The Falcons will play Whitney Monday at 10:30 a.m. On Tuesday, Colfax tackles Liberty Ranch at 1:15 p.m., followed by River Valley at 4:00.
