Falcons finish PVL with a bang at El Dorado

The Colfax High boys basketball team erupted for a season-high 89 points to nearly double-up El Dorado Thursday night in the Pioneer Valley League finale for both teams. The Falcons won the PVL championship with an 11-1 record after beating the Cougars 89-46 in Placerville. Colfax outscored the home team 23-4 in the second quarter and cruised in the second half. Scott Krizman scored 22 to lead Colfax (24-2). Joey Ballenger scored 18, grabbed 10 rebounds and had seven steals in the win while Jeff Divine tossed in 11 points. Joel Iventosch dished out a season-high 10 assists. We shared the ball, moved the ball very well, Colfax coach Ron Pucci said. We played unselfish, had a lot of good looks and we hit them. Colfax will be the No. 1 seed when the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. IV playoffs begin next Wednesday. The playoff brackets will be released Sunday. Foresthill 72, Woodland Christian 58 at Sacramento ” The Wildfires' Alan Cassell scored 23 points while Adam Theis had eight points, nine assists and three steals in a win at Victory Christian. Foresthill likely wrapped up a Sac-Joaquin Section Div. V playoff berth with the win. The playoff brackets will be released Sunday. The Wildfires pulled away after leading by just six points at halftime. They will face Sacramento Waldorf today at 6 p.m. in the regular season finale today at Victory Christian. Sean O'Hagan scored nine points for Foresthill (3-9 CVCL, 9-12 overall). Ryan Kimler and Kyle Potter tossed in seven apiece.
