After a split of their opening games last Friday at El Camino, the Colfax High frosh and JV football teams will take a step up in competition when the Falcons host Del Oro tonight in a doubleheader at Marson Stadium. The Colfax Frosh, who defeated El Camino, 25-8, will kickoff their game with the Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. The JVs are expected to get under way at about 7:30 p.m. The Colfax-Del Oro games are being played as a non-league twinbill because the school?s two varsity teams are competing in this weekend?s ?Battle at the Capital? showcase set for Del Oro High Friday and Saturday. Here?s a recap of last week?s games: EL Camino JV 35 Colfax 14 ? Colfax and the Eagles were knotted 14-14 at halftime but three second half turnovers proved costly. Henry Freer (15x52) and Austin Perry (16x67) both scored touchdowns for the Falcons. Marcus Hoogendyk, Matt Stuck and freshman Jack Baldoni shined for the Falcons on defense. Colfax Frosh 25 El Camino 8 ? Tanner Kane rushed 17 times for 102 yards and scored three touchdowns to help lift the Falcons to a win in their season opener. Colfax quarterback Michael Wilson also passed for 115 yards including a 10-yard scoring pass to Chris Harshman. Ryan Hawkins, Jake Mederios and Kyle Bryant led the Colfax defense.
