Fundraiser 5K Run For Dowling April 6

A 5K Walk/Jog Leukemia Fundraiser in honor of Bear River High School senior Austin Dowling will be held on Saturday, April 6 at the Bear River High School track.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the 5K run beginning at 10 a.m.

Dowling, a football standout last fall for the Bruins and a senior at Bear River, was diagnosed with leukemia in February and has been in the hospital undergoing treatments with his family by his side. The community is invited to join friends and family for a fun-filled event to raise funds to defray growing medical expenses.

To register for the 5K run, visit the Austin Dowling Public Event Facebook page. Donations can also be sent to the Austin Dowling Leukemia Fund at El Dorado Savings Bank.

According to Cheri Curry, who is helping organize the event,  the run is sponsored by the Higgins Diggins Lions Club and the Bear River High track team. The event is trying to finish pre-registration this week as run t-shirts need to be ordered.

Touchdown Productions will be at the event to make a DVD of this memorable day and DVD's will be made available for purchase.

According to Curry, runners are urged to get crazy with wild and fun costumes.Also, runners will be able to register and pay the day of the event. However, t-shirts will be a first come first serve basis as to availability and size. To register on-line visit .
