Garcia gets two goals in Colfax win over Nevada Union

After a pair of 1-0 losses to Division I foes in their last two outings, the Colfax Lady Falcons’ girls soccer team turned the tables on yet another Div. I opponent Wednesday afternoon.

Playing their first home match of the season in sun-kissed weather, the Lady Falcons used a pair of goals from sophomore Katie Garcia as the spark in a 2-1 victory over Nevada Union.

Coming off tight losses to both Roseville and Ponderosa, the Lady Falcons rebounded by using a goal from Garcia midway through the second half to snap a 1-1 deadlock.

Also playing well for Colfax, now 3-3-3 on the season, were Amanda Moore, Amber Tobiasz, Danni Melendez, Brittany Thomas and goalkeeper Lindsay Platt, just called up from the JV squad. Both Thomas and Marissa Pontius were credited with assists.

Colfax is idle until hosting Forest Lake Christian next Thursday at 4 p.m.

Colfax JV 2, Nevada Union 0 – Goalkeeper Leisha Douglass was credited with six saves in the Lady Falcons JV win. Jennifer Vossghi tallied one of Colfax’s goals.
