Hillmen, Falcons, Eagles Earn Soccer Berths

The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section released its boys soccer playoff brackets Friday and locally three area teams qualified for the post season. Placer's Hillmen, fresh off their Pioneer Valley League title cinching win last Thursday over Lincoln, earned a No. 2 seed in the Div. IV playoffs. Placer will open the post season on Thursday with a home match tenatively scheduled to be played at 3 p.m. Thursday at Railhead Park. Colfax's Falcons, the third place finisher in the PVL, drew a sixth seed in the Div. IV playoffs and will open the first round at No. 3 seed Sierra of Manteca. The Falcons and Placer, both with wins, could collide again on Nov. 7 in the semi-final round. Lincoln, the PVL's second place finisher, is seeded No. 4 and will host Dixon in the first round. The other match in the top half of the backet is No. 1 Vista del Lago hosting No. 8 Ceres. Del Oro, which was forced to post a 4-2 win over Nevada Union last Thursay in a special one-match playoff for the Sierra Foothill League's No. 3 berth, will open play in the 16-team Div. II playoffs on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles, the No. 9 seed, will play at No. 8 Lodi on Tuesday afternoon. Bella Vista is the No. 1 seed in Div. II.
