Interstate 80 traffic no longer being held at ColfaxBy: Jon Schultz, Journal Staff Writer
The traffic hold on Interstate 80 at Colfax has been lifted after multiple spinouts were cleared from the roadway, the California Department of Transportation said.
The hold had been in effect for about 30 minutes, and "chain runners" (motorists who ignore chain control check points) have been the source of most of the incidents that led to the delay, Caltrans spokesperson Rochelle Jenkins said.
The last chain installation point for westbound travelers is in Truckee, and people coming from clear skies soon find themselves in a blizzard, Jenkins said.
