Here’s a recap of last weekend’s highlights:
Colfax Midgets 10 Davis 6 — In a tight defensive battle, the Falcons built a 10-0 lead and then staved off several Blue Devil threats in the fourth quarter to get the win. Quarterback Michael Wilson accounted for the Falcons' first eight points when he took a sneak over for a touchdown from one-yard out and also booted the two-point conversion kick for an 8-0 lead. In the third quarter, Colfax’s Robbie Lopez caught a Davis receiver in the end zone for a safety and 10-0 lead. On defense, Jonathan Walker had a big pass deflection, while Josey Weber sealed the win with a pass interception. Also turning in gritty defensive efforts for the winners were Bailey Bean, Kyle Bryant, John Hays, Michael Calleja, Jack Baldoni, Jake Medeiros, Tanner Kane, Brendan Flagg, Mario Margherita, and Chancey Trentman.
Jr. Midgets 38 Davis 0 — Tim Rawlins’ early 45-yard touchdown jaunt staked Colfax to a quick 6-0 lead and the Falcons never looked back in blanking Davis.
Rawlins also added a 50-yard punt return for another score and after blocking a punt tallied on a 19-yard touchdown effort.
Aided by fumble recoveries from Dalton Bannister, Patrick Beninga and Ian Critchfield, the Jr. Midgets continued to roll in the second half as Marcus Jackson added a score on a 41-yard gallop and also caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Logan Hurst. Ray Henry also contributed a 65-yard scoring touchdown jaunt. Standouts on defense for the Falcons included Bannister, Alex Tobiasz, Jake LaHaie, Matthew Blackburn, Ian Gassaway, Beau Baggett, Connor Rawlins, Travis Mullican and Isaiah Donaldson.
Davis Pee Wees 6 Colfax 0 — In another defensive battle, Davis capitalized on a lost Colfax fumble to go on a 7-play, 59-yard drive for what proved to be the winning score.
Dallan Trentman broke through the line to block the extra point attempt.
Cameron Lee led the defense with six tackles, including five consecutive stops in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter.
