July 3 volunteers did a bang-up job

Thanks to everyone who helped make Colfax’s 2012 Independence Day celebration a success! To the individual volunteers and the service groups for taking on different portions of the event, without you we’d not have had enough volunteers to run the event. To the many businesses and groups who donated money towards the fireworks, no pyrotechnics without you. To the security, emergency personnel for donating services: Placer Co. Sheriff, AMR, CalFire, CHP and the City of Colfax. And to the Colfax Pride Board volunteers for maintaining the non-profit that’s put on this event for the last several years. I have stepped down as coordinator of the Independence Day and the Colfax Pride Board. Although the Lions will continue the annual parade, there’s currently no individual volunteer to fill my vacancy and coordinate the entire event. Colfax Pride Inc., the volunteers who coordinate the Independence Day and Winterfest events, has been struggling for volunteers at the Board level. They’ll meet September 18 to vote whether Colfax Pride will continue. The Board needs new blood, but in a small town such as ours, there are only so many volunteers and hands are already full. New blood from the community is needed. Is there such an individual willing and available? Contact me, laurel@mysticdesign.net. Laurel Mathe, Colfax
