Kim Douglass tops Colfax City Council race

Newcomer Kim A. Douglass has emerged as the top vote-getter in the Colfax City Council race. Douglass, a 16-year Colfax resident, received 270, or 40.60 percent, of the votes in Tuesday’s election for two open council seats. Incumbent councilman Stephen L. Harvey’s 203 votes – 30.53 percent – earned him a second term on the council. Out of the running was Tom Parnham, who was also making his first run on the council.

Late Tuesday night, Colfax councilman Josh Alpine was in a close race with for the District 5 seat on the Placer County Water Agency board with Cheryl Maki, of Auburn.

Alpine had polled 5,250 in the eastern Placer County district – or 41.94 percent of the total 11,568 votes counted. Maki had garnered 5,248 – or 41.92 percent.

Otis Wollan, also of Colfax and a former Water Agency directory, was trailing significantly, with 1,995 votes (15.94 percent).
