Biles named league MVP

The Colfax High Lady Falcons girls basketball team was thoroughly rewarded for a Pioneer Valley League championship season as evident by the league’s recent announcement of the 2012 all-PVL girls basketball team. Selected by the league coaches, the Lady Falcons had three players named to the first-team, another player named as the league’s MVP, another player tagged with honorable mention honors, and their coach, Dave Campbell, selected as the PVL’s Coach of the Year. Heading the list of Colfax players named to the all-league squad was Haley Biles, who was selected as the league’s MVP. A senior guard, Biles led the Lady Falcons in scoring this season with an average of 12.5 points per game and was also the team’s top three-point shooter. Biles was joined on the first team by seniors Haleigh Lis and Ashley Scott and sophomore Raegan Lillie. Lis was one of Colfax’s top rebounders this season, while Scott provided excellent defense and outside shooting. As the season progressed, Lillie, meanwhile, developed as one of Colfax’s scoring and rebounding leaders. Senior Mariah Turcotte rounded out Colfax’s all-league picks as she earned honorable mention honors. Turcotte provided the Lady Falcons with a lift off the bench with her fine ball handling and hustle. Campbell, in his third season at the Colfax helm, directed the Lady Falcons to a record of 18-10 and took the squad to its second straight PVL title, a third straight section final four and a third regional berth. In three seasons, Campbell’s record is 60-31. 2012 All-PVL Girls Basketball Colfax – Haleigh Lis, Raegan Lillie, Ashley Scott Bear River – Jen Meylor, Sarah Hagar, Savannah Welz Placer – Kerry McCullough, Nicole Parish Lincoln – Sarah Dargan Center – Keiana Quinley MVP – Haley Biles, Colfax Coach of the Year – Dave Campbell, Colfax
