Lady Falcons perfect in Pioneer Valley League action

Goals by Amy Blackburn and Iona Lofrano and another sturdy effort by its defense helped power the Colfax High girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Center last Thursday night in a game played under the lights in Antelope. The win for the Lady Falcons was their third straight in Pioneer Valley League action and also helped push the squad’s overall record to 11-1. Remarkably, the shutout was Colfax’s 11th of the season. Blackburn’s goal just before halftime gave Colfax a 1-0 advantage before Lofrano helped close out the Cougars with a second half goal. Kayla Garcia was credited with an assist in the win for the Lady Falcons who fired 19 shots on the Center goal. Also playing well for the winners were goalie Michallynn Hoffman, Emilee Klug and Amber Tobiasz. Colfax will resume PVL play on April 10 with a make-up match at Foothill. Colfax JVs 1, Center 1 – The Lady Falcon JVs and Center traded first-half goals in the PVL stalemate. Scoring for Colfax was Katie Garcia. Both Sam Melendez and Jenna Oberg also played well for the locals who are now 7-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in PVL matches.
