As a customer directly affected by the (Bear River) canal break, I am appalled by PG&E’s inability to solve this problem after two-plus weeks. Your picture in the Auburn Journal dated May 4 gives us some idea of the scope and the task at hand, daunting yes, but not insurmountable. Being from a hard-working family and with 30-plus years of construction work under my belt, I can assure you that we could have had at the very least a temporary flow of water on the way to the people that need it by now! While our crops and livestock wither and die, our public utilities sit on their butts trying to figure out how to solve the problem. Maybe it is time to let the private sector step in and take charge. I firmly believe that we could get it done in a short period of time. Hard work, integrity and a sense of emergency is not something that the public utilities are for. If you want your water back, let’s step up and take charge HENRY SINCLAIR, Penryn
