Love for Cadillacs spawns completely redone convertible

Editor’s note: Eden Valley residents Jim and Bev Hanson share their 1960 Cadillac 62 Series Convertible in this week’s Your Ride feature. When I met my wife I was driving a 1950 Cadillac, and I’ve owned Cadillacs and Ford Thunderbirds all our married life. More than 15 years ago I built this 1960 62 Series Cadillac Convertible out of three cars. When I put it together, the only thing left on the body that was original was the sheet metal around the trunk. The car had a terrible case of body rot. A friend of mine had a body shop in Lafayette and I worked on the car for about 11 months. The upholstery has been redone and the engine, transmission are all new. Last year this car won “Best 60’s Car” at The Ridge’s car show and “Best 60’s Convertible” at the Roamin Angel car show in Grass Valley. I also own two other Cadillacs, one black and one white Coupe DeVille. The white one is all original with just a little touch up paint on the body, but other than that nothing has been changed since it was new. I just finished the black one after purchasing it about 10 years ago as a body on a frame. Have a classic, custom or hot rod you want to share? Tell us about your vehicle in 300 to 400 words.
