AUBURN CA - What Placer County Sheriff?s detectives are describing as a Craigslist real estate scam has led to the arrest of a Meadow Vista man on fraud charges. William Frank Lordier, 54, was taken into custody this week with the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Office. One of Lordier?s purported victims lives in Los Angeles County, sheriff?s spokeswoman Dena Erwin said Thursday. A former real estate agent, Lordier was purported by investigators to be indicating on Craigslist that he was selling timeshares. ?Unknowing victims gave Lordier their bank-account information, which he then used to take money from those accounts for his own personal gain,? said a statement issued by the Placer sheriff. By Thursday, detectives said they had located victims in Los Angeles, Nevada County, and as far away as Oregon and Washington. Placer County detectives suspect more victims are still to be discovered. Anyone who thinks they may have been duped by the Craigslist scam is being asked to contact Detective Jason Doolittle at (530) 889-7844.
