Motorcyclist in critical condition after colliding with tree

An Auburn man was listed in critical condition Thursday evening after failing to negotiate a turn on his motorcycle and colliding with a tree. The incident occurred just after 7 a.m. Thursday. Daniel Klotz, 20, was riding his blue 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle northbound on Placer Hills Road, south of Weimar Cross Road, in Weimar. As Klotz was traveling on Placer Hills Road, he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and ran off the roadway, striking a large tree. Klotz suffered a fractured hip and possible internal injuries and was treated at the scene by Placer County Fire and AMR medical personnel before being transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Auburn CHP is investigating Klotz’s speed at the time of the collision. Alcohol/drugs was not a factor in this traffic collision. Traffic was minimally impacted during the traffic collision investigation. ~ Staff report
