The Placer High soccer team fought past upstart Lincoln Friday afternoon at Railhead Park in a makeup game from Thursday.

Senior Eddie Santamaria starred on defense and provided the offense, notching a first-half goal on an assist from Ben Delabarra. That was enough as Placer won 1-0 to pull into first place in the Pioneer Valley League.

Nikolai Figueroa and Adam Norcott were outstanding defensively along with Santamaria.

Placer (2-1 PVL) will face Colfax on the road Tuesday.

Colfax 1, Bear River 0 at Colfax — Ryan Sinclair took care of the offense and the Falcons got a great defensive effort to claw past the Bruins at home on Thursday.

Sinclair notched an unassisted goal in the first half and it held up thanks to a strong defense. Goalkeeper Chris Lovejoy led the way along with defenders Josh Partin, Eric Graves, Taylor Dorsey and Gary Root. Midfielders Jake Logan and Cameron Ford also played well for Colfax (2-1-1 PVL).
