Please respect veterans' graves

My husband and I attended the Memorial Day Service at the New Auburn Cemetery this morning (May 31) as we have for the past 26 years. Our son is buried in the military section. He was a Naval Midshipman when he was killed in 1983 at age of 21. The service honored the many military men and women who have been laid to rest there. Many people attended to pay homage. Upon arrival, however, we were very upset to find the white flowered plant we had placed on his grave had been stolen. That’s so disrespectful of those who have passed on. Who would stoop so low to steal from the cemetery? Seems now the cemetery needs to be patrolled. Jacquelyn Long, auburn
