Robbers Fire suspect in Placer County court MondayBy: Journal Staff
The suspect in starting the 2,650-acre Robbers Fire with fireworks near Foresthill is due to make his next court appearance Monday.
Bryon Craig Mason, 28, of Sacramento, is slated to appear for an early status conference at 8:30 a.m. Monday in North Auburn Placer County Jail courtroom.
Mason was arrested July 24 on a string of arson charges connected to the Robbers Fire. The fire started July 11 and burned through July 22, costing more than $13 million to extinguish.
One residence and four outbuildings were consumed by the blaze, which roared through isolated, wooded acreage between Colfax and Meadow Vista.
Most serious of the charges is a felony count of arson causing great bodily injury, in connection to injuries sustained by firefighters.
Mason has been held at the Placer County Jail since his arrest in July and held in lieu of posting $500,000 bail.
