Sierra suffers first loss

REEDLEY — A field goal with 1:20 remaining on Saturday sent the Sierra College football team to its first loss of the season, a 28-27 defeat at host Reedley College. “It was a great game, back and forth all day,” Wolverines coach Jeff Tisdel said. Colfax High graduate Justin Chastain and fellow freshman wide receiver Brandon Michalkiewicz each caught touchdown passes for Sierra (8-1, 3-1 Valley Conference). Running back Lamon Muldrow scored a rushing TD, and fellow sophomore Mike Grant returned a punt for another touchdown. Sophomore cornerback Phillip Brown intercepted two passes to lead the Wolverines defensively. Freshman defensive back Brandon Benson also picked off a pass, and freshman linebacker Paul Vassallo recorded four tackles for loss and three pass break-ups.
